Look for repeatable tasks that do not need immediate attention: routine invoices, filing, or non-urgent replies. Give them a regular window and make the expected response time clear to people who depend on you. Batching reduces the number of times you have to re-enter the same context. Keep a separate route for things that really cannot wait.
Put similar small tasks in the same window
Some work gets easier when you stop reopening it all day.
A small example
A consultant reviews ordinary scheduling requests twice a day. Her client still has a phone number for urgent changes, so batching does not silently turn into being unreachable.
Keep in mind
Do not batch urgent safety issues or time-critical customer problems. The category matters more than the convenience.
