Heat and temperature describe different things

Temperature describes thermal state; heat is energy transferred because of a temperature difference.

A thermometer measures temperature. Heat, in physics, refers to energy transferred between systems because their temperatures differ. Energy transferred as heat generally flows spontaneously from a hotter object towards a cooler one.

This distinction helps explain why a large bath and a small cup at the same temperature are not thermally equivalent in every way. The amount of material and its properties matter when calculating how much energy is needed to change its temperature. Temperature alone does not tell you that amount.

A small example

An identical amount of temperature increase takes more energy for a large mass of water than for a small mass under the same conditions.

Keep in mind

This comparison assumes liquid water under comparable conditions and no phase change.
